Within four months, two interdisciplinary teams from the EuroTeQ Engineering University alliance have worked on reinventing and designing products using the potential of Additive Manufacturing. Following this open approach, one team came up with creating a customizable footwear for medical needs, which effectively closes the gap between the aesthetic design of sneakers, and the medical function of orthopedic shoes. The other team explored the concept of a 3D printed clothing accessory and developed it by implementing a 3D printed fabric. The resulting product is a 3-D printed banana sling bag. Moreover, the students enjoyed the lectures presented from different experts of the EuroTeQ Engineering alliance.
This challenge has also strengthened our international presence having the support from Prof. Prashanth Konda Gokuldoss from Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech), Dr. Sankhya Mohanty from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and also the cooperation to the FIT Additive Manufacturing Group with Natan Nudelis and Oerlikon AM with Graham Matheson. Through their expertise, Amore participants gained insights on relevant technical application, project management and expertise in product development.
This was a perfect showing on how widely modern Additive Manufacturing concepts can be utilized in developing products. The team around Prof. Peter Mayr was very happy with the outcome. Both teams investigated the advantages of Additive Manufacturing and printed their prototypes in new designs specific to AM.
