TUM-CU Program for Non-Destructive Testing of Cultural Heritage
Project Partner: Cairo University, Egypt
Project Description:
The TUM-CU Program for Nondestructive Testing (NDT) of Cultural Heritage, initiated by the Chair of Nondestructive Testing at the Technical University of Munich and the Faculty of Engineering at Cairo University, aims to transfer expertise from the German to the Egyptian team in the field of NDT for cultural heritage.
The partners had previously collaborated under the DAAD call for proposals "German-Egyptian Progress Partnership: Short Measures," which laid the foundation for this project. Building on the trust established during the short-term measure "Non-Destructive Techniques for the Preservation of Egyptian Cultural Heritage (57562241)," we aim to deepen cooperation and establish a long-term exchange of skills and knowledge.
As part of this proposal, we seek to launch a summer and winter school program that integrates research and teaching on cultural heritage and NDT. Summer schools will be held in Munich and its surroundings, and winter schools will take place in Cairo. Students and doctoral candidates from both universities will participate equally.
